If you're a big fan of pie, but like the topping of apple crisp, this combines both to make the most perfect dessert! Try it and you'll never make another apple pie again!
Ingredients:
1 whole pie crust
6-7 cups peeled and sliced apples
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
4 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (trust me!!)
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup quick oats
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup pecans (roughly chopped)
1/2 jar (or more if you're feeling it!) jar of your favorite caramel sauce
Directions:
In a bowl, mix peedled apples, lemon juice, sugar, flour and 1/4 tsp. salt, and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.
For crumb topping, cut the butter into the flour with a pastry cutter, then add in brown sugar, oats, pecans and 1/4 tsp. salt.
Add apples to prepared pie shell and top with crumb topping. Cover crust edges with aluminum foil (I don't because I'm a rebel like that, but you do you, boo!) and bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil from cust and place back into the oven for another 30 minutes. Finish baking and salivate with anticipation!!
Remove the pie from the oven and pour 1/2 jar (or more if you're feeling dangerous!) of caramel topping over the top. Allow to cool slightly before serving, or don't and grab the ice cream if you can't wait.
Eat. Enjoy. Smile. Cry about this beautiful pie you just made with your two hands. Then smile again and have another slice!
