Christmas Traditions at the Farm 🎅 😊

Christmas Traditions at the Farm 🎅 😊

My husband, Steve, and I (and of course our pup, Rowdy too) want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas 🎅 and a Happy New Year. We also want to share a bit of what our Christmas and Holiday season looks like here on the farm with you all! Our Holiday season is rooted in spreading Christmas Cheer and keeping our traditions going each year.

The days leading up to Christmas we go see our farm landlords who own the farmable land and rent it to us each year, our neighbors, and our friends to take them a plate of Christmas cookies and candies 🍪 🍬  This is actually the inspiration behind our Cookie Plate Candle! We also like to support our local post office by gifting them with a charcuterie board and home raised beef as a gift of thanks for helping Dirt Road Candle Co. run so smoothly.

Our Christmas traditions on the farm start on Christmas Eve. Each year we go to the candlelight service at church - my favorite is singing silent night by candle light. It's hard for me not to get a little emotional when we do that! When I was a kid we would always go over to my grandparents on Christmas Eve and celebrate with them. My grandparents have since passed but we still keep the tradition going with my parents. One of my favorite traditions, that started when I was a kid, is that on the drive to and from church we always listen to The Christmas Carol, narrated by Edward May, on our AM radio.

Steve and I also go to a showing of A Christmas Carol, each year, at the Omaha Community Playhouse in Omaha, NE. If you are local to Omaha, you should definitely check it out. Super kid friendly and we always look forward to it!

Christmas morning we get up early and make sure the cattle and cows are all fed and comfortable and then we head inside to warm up and enjoy a delicious Christmas breakfast. Most years we do a breakfast casserole of some sort with caramel cinnamon rolls 🤤 That is actually where the All Roads Lead Home candle was inspired from! We spend the rest of Christmas day with family and then do chores, on the farm, again at night. Christmas is always relaxing –  just the way we like it 😊

Steve and I usually spend the days following Christmas doing year end farm activities. Then on our anniversary, 12.31.2016, we work on our year end financial statement and balance sheet. It's such a nerdy fun date but we both enjoy it!

Then on NYE, we celebrate our anniversary! This year marks 6 years for us ♥️

We hope that you all have the happiest holiday season and are surrounded by your loved ones 😊

- Michelle, Steve, & Rowdy
